In this workshop we will use a blacksmith forge, hammer, and anvil with traditional blacksmithing techniques to create a hook. The student will learn about fire management, forging and bending techniques as well as other blacksmithing related skills. This 90 minute (plus or minus) workshop will take place outside at Spruce Forest Artisan Village in Grantsville MD.
For groups of 4 or more, classes can be scheduled. Children under 18 (who are physically big enough to use the equipment) can take a class with a parent or guardian present.
Students MUST wear closed toed shoes to the class. Eye protection will be provided and must be worn. It is strongly suggested to wear cotton clothes, as synthetic fabrics can melt and burn.
Classes are held outdoors and may be canceled due to predicted bad weather or low enrollment. If a class is canceled, you will be given minimum 24 hours notice and a full refund.
Cancellation policy: If you cancel with 72 hours or more notice of the classes start time you get a full refund, 48-24 hours notice is a 50% refund, less than 24 hours notice there are no refunds. If you are late you might not be able to finish the class in the alotted time slot.
